I hope that readers understand the specific point I am making here: using the authors' own assertions, it is apparent that they are aware of the inconsistency of their public statements. In other words, it appears that these authors are intentionally lying about the conclusions that follow from their study in order to mislead the media and the public about the role that e-cigarettes are playing with regards to youth smoking.

In my opinion, Dr. Glantz's conclusion from this study is unscientific, illogical, and extremely damaging and destructive to the FDA's consideration of this issue as well as to the public's appreciation of the severe hazards of cigarette smoking.

Like Senator Blumenthal's statement which I discussed yesterday, this piece by the American Lung Association is completely divorced from science and scientific evidence and falls solidly into the realm of political propaganda.

Perhaps it should be no surprise that these researchers have drawn such a wild and scientifically implausible conclusion like this, one which does not follow at all from their actual research. Why? Because, as I yesterday, these researchers had reached the conclusion of their study years ago, before even conducting the research! In fact, they drew their conclusions when they submitted their grant application. So it comes as no surprise to now see that they are drawing pre-determined conclusions that have nothing to do with their actual research.
