One of my fears in advance of the release of the regulations was that they would require substantial equivalence determinations for most products currently on the market an would pull some products from the market pending such determinations. Instead, the agency decided to allow all existing products to remain on the market, giving them two years to apply for FDA approval. In addition, new products can enter the market for the next two years without pre-approval from the agency.

The researchers reported that patients who used e-cigarettes were no more likely to have quit smoking at follow-up than patients who did not use e-cigarettes.

Perhaps it should be no surprise that these researchers have drawn such a wild and scientifically implausible conclusion like this, one which does not follow at all from their actual research. Why? Because, as I yesterday, these researchers had reached the conclusion of their study years ago, before even conducting the research! In fact, they drew their conclusions when they submitted their grant application. So it comes as no surprise to now see that they are drawing pre-determined conclusions that have nothing to do with their actual research.
