While research is clearly needed to understand the trajectory of youth use of electronic cigarettes, the Monitoring the Future survey data do not support the CDC's conclusion that these products are serving as a gateway to youth smoking.

A group of U.S. Congressmembers - including Dick Durbin (D-IL), John D. Rockefeller (D-WV), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Edward J. Markey (D-MA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Jack Reed (D-RI), and U.S. Representative Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) - are calling for a in order to protect youth from "nicotine addiction."

Fortunately, I'm used to this treatment, so I'm not going to be bullied into backing down. I believe that a lot is at stake here, because a wrong move on the part of the FDA in banning filtered cigarettes could literally lead to an increase in cigarette-related deaths.
