As we all know, electronic cigarettes or e-cigs are one of, if not the fast-growing segments of the nicotine products market. This summer, lawmakers in North Carolina will be debating two E-cigarette related proposals in their state house, and although “technically” there are two debates, both of these debates have relatively the same outcome; to raise much-needed state tax revenue.

"Last September, in an withMedscape (a website for medical professionals), Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers forDisease Control and Prevention, said that "many kids are starting out withe-cigarettes and then going on to smoke conventional cigarettes." The samemonth he was by the Associated Press as warningthat e-cigarettes are "condemning many kids to struggling with a lifelongaddiction to nicotine."

The AHA provided recommendations for policy on the manufacturing, use and distribution of e-cigarettes in their report published on August 25th, 2014. Their policy stresses how they believe we as a society should move forward in the new and ever changing market of electronic nicotine delivery systems. Stressing the absolute importance of more research was one of the objects at the top of their list.

A scientific review on electronic cigarettes was published by Stan Glantz and colleagues this week in the journal Circulation.
