The consultation on the advertising rules took place amid widespread debate amongst policy makers, health professionals, charities and business about the role and safety of e-cigarettes. During the consultation we took into account the wide range of views that exist about e-cigarettes and their potential to re-normalise smoking, as well as the case being made for their public health benefits. With legislation around the promotion of e-cigarettes not coming into effect until 2016, we have moved quickly to establish a responsible framework for advertising in the UK.
Why is the CDC unable to tell the truth? Why can't the agency even issue a statement that is internally consistent on this issue? Why is the CDC ignoring the wealth of evidence that it admits exists, which shows that many ex-smokers have used electronic cigarettes effectively as a smoking cessation aid?
Cigavette’s e-liquid comes in two flavors: tobacco and menthol. Menthol isrelativity hard to mess up. However, tobacco is the hardest flavor to reproduce with any e-cigarette. That is because there are over 600 chemicals added to tobacco that give tobacco it’s unique flavor. It is almost impossible to make an e-cigarette taste like tobacco.
I don't begrudge the CDC for enumerating the potential population-level risks of the introduction of electronic cigarettes to the market. However, I do criticize the agency for fabricating scientific evidence in order to support what is clearly a pre-determined agenda: the demonization of e-cigarettes.
