Thanks to deception like that we see here from Dr. Fiore, there is a perception that the use of smoking cessation drugs is the "standard of care." This is far from the truth. If the public, and tobacco practitioners themselves, understood the depth of the connection between those who crafted the "standard of care" (i.e., the Clinical Practice Guideline recommendations) and the industry that manufactures the drugs that are recommended in the Guideline, it would become apparent that these recommendations are heavily biased, not objective, and inappropriate.

In my view, there is only one possible explanation for this: Dr. Glantz is no longer playing by the rules of science. He is now a man on a mission: to destroy the e-cigarette industry and to remove e-cigarettes as an option for smokers trying to quit. He has apparently drawn the pre-determined conclusion that e-cigarettes are aggravating the tobacco epidemic among youth, and he will stop at nothing to draw this conclusion and disseminate it to the public.

Surprisingly, however, the next paragraph of the grant application abstract informs grant reviewers that the researchers actually know the results of this experiment before conducting it. The researchers tell the reviewers that:
