What about smokers who have tried and failed with these approaches and are quite sure that it would be a waste of time to try the same dismal methods again? And what about smokers who are particularly excited about the possibility of using electronic cigarettes in a quit attempt?

Sadly, the truth is that the one lying to and deceiving the public is the American Lung Association. Most electronic cigarette companies are honestly and correctly informing their customers that these products are safer than cigarettes and that they may be helpful to some people in getting them off tobacco cigarettes. The letter concludes: "By taking action to apply the MSA to e-cigarettes, you could make a giant stride in protecting kids from a lifelong addiction to nicotine."
