The study concludes that e-cigarettes are not helpful for smoking cessation among cancer patients.

What is the new "evidence" that e-cigarettes are a gateway to smoking? According to the letter sent by these politicians to the FDA: "What’s even more troubling is that these products serve as a gateway to traditional tobacco products. A recent JAMA Pediatrics study found that middle and high-school students who used e-cigarettes were more likely to smoke traditional cigarettes and less likely to quit smoking."

Instead, these advocates argued that surveys are the best way to study the potential benefits of e-cigarettes. Surveys measure the real-life situation of how e-cigarettes and vapor products are actually used.

Sadly, although the Surgeon General's report draws conclusions about the health impact of filtered cigarettes, it only cites one of these seven studies (the Luchtenborg study). And in citing that study, the report merely notes its finding that smoking increases colon cancer risk. It hides this study's finding that this increased colon cancer risk was only detected among smokers of non-filtered cigarettes!

In what it is calling an action "," the FDA has announced taking an "important step" that shows its commitment "to making sure that all tobacco products that are sold and distributed to the public meet the requirements of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (Tobacco Control Act)." According to the FDA, this bold new action is necessary because: "Ensuring compliance with the law is critical to FDA’s mission to protect public health."

Many vendors seem to be more than willing to donate, but a lot of vendors don’t know this project exists. If donating isn’t an option, spreading the word about this project would be a tremendous help especially to the local B&Ms who doesn’t know the existence of the project.
