Let’s take a break from recent events and talk about something fun for a change. I’m sure we’ve all had our fair share of E-Juices and even pondered changing the flavor or wondering if adding another flavor would make the E-Juice really shine. For the last week, I’ve been spending a lot of time making my own E-Juice. I’ve been doing this long enough to know what makes E-Juice. You have your nicotine, PG, VG, and flavoring. It seemed really simple in my mind but by the end of the week, I’ve found a new respect for E-Juice mixologists.

Apparently, the science no longer matters. You can acknowledge that a study does not allow you to determine the direction of a relationship, but then go ahead and draw such a conclusion anyway. Frankly, this is junk science, and it is just as bad as what we have attacked the tobacco industry for doing in years past.

In fact, the subjects had no idea that they were part of an experiment involving artificial manipulation of their news feed for the purposes of potential inducing happiness or sadness as part of a research study. This potential use of their Facebook account is simply not mentioned in the Data Use Policy. The policy states that the information provided by users may be used for research purposes. It also states that the information may be shared with outside vendors to conduct research. However, nowhere does the policy state that users agree to intentional manipulation by Facebook staff for research purposes.
