The Rest of the Story

This story demonstrates how low the integrity of research in the tobacco control movement has sunk. In today's tobacco control movement, we can draw conclusions before even conducting research because we are apparently capable of predicting the results of our experiments before they are carried out.

Without adding a descriptor of some sort, the cigarette companies would not have been able to distinguish their sub-brands. For example, Marlboro "Lights" would now be called "Marlboro." Marlboro "Ultra-Lights" would now be called "Marlboro." And Marlboro "Milds" would now be called "Marlboro." Thus, there would be three brands on the market, all called simply "Marlboro," and consumers would have no way of telling them apart.

Yesterday, I that Dr. Stan Glantz has accused electronic cigarette associations of being front groups for Big Tobacco, insinuating that they are masquerading as grassroots vapers' groups but in reality are working to protect Big Tobacco profits.
