Unquestionably, there is still the need to regulate the sale and marketing of electronic cigarettes to minors. Sadly, and ironically, the only ones who seem to oppose laws to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors are the supposedly "anti-smoking" groups.

4. Those products are menthol-flavored cigarettes.

"“There’s so much we don’t yet know about e-cigarettes,” said Douglas Tipperman, M.S.W., a public health advisor at SAMHSA. “They are not harmless. We don’t know the health impact at the individual or the population level.”

For the combustible cigarette market, this is a dream come true. In fact, it seems too good to be true because it is a supposedly public health protection agency that is issuing this immense market protection.

The only bad news coming out of the actual data is that the efforts of anti-smoking groups and advocates appear to be working: they are being successful in discouraging smokers from trying to quit smoking using electronic cigarettes. Ironically, the results of public health efforts have been to impede smoking cessation, lower the overall motivation of smokers to quit, and decreasing the number of quit attempts among current smokers.

Health advocates are worried that allowing big tobacco companies into the e-cigarette market could unleash a wave of seductive advertising that would lure young people into taking up the habit.
