The FDA is negating the benefits we have accrued from the tobacco companies halting their own undermining of the public's appreciation of smoking's hazards because the agency is now doing that work for the tobacco companies.

The proposed policies in New York State and Israel would severely harm the public's health by causing many vapers to go back to cigarette smoking. What justification is there for a law that we know would harm the public's health?

Thus, this is not just some fringe professor. This is the (former) head of a prestigious public health body that gave advice to the ministers on the electronic cigarette issue and whose advice was seriously considered in formulating e-cigarette policy in the UK.

Moreover, these politicians - while callling for a ban on flavorings in fake cigarettes - are not calling for a similar ban on all flavorings in real cigarettes. They are not calling for a ban on the use of menthol cigarettes to addict kids. They are not calling on legislation to amend the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act to remove the menthol exemption. They are not calling upon the FDA to ban menthol.
