The World Health Organization or WHO on Tuesday August 26th 2014 issued a report calling for the ban of indoor usage of electronic cigarettes claiming yet again there isn’t enough research done on these devices for it to be considered safe to use as well as being a potential gateway for children into nicotine addiction.

Actually, what is completely disingenuous is the attempt of these politicians to pretend that they are committed to ending the use of flavorings to addict youth to nicotine. The rest of the story is that these same lawmakers chose not to ban the use of cigarette flavorings to addict youth to nicotine. Specifically, they have supported an exemption for menthol, which is the number one flavor used by cigarette companies to addict youth to nicotine and cigarette smoking.

The rest of the story, then, is that health advocates in Michigan are so blinded by ideology (that anything that looks like a cigarette is evil) that they are on the exact opposite side of the issue as they should be. First, they are opposing the prohibition of the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. Second, they are in favor of protecting the sale of tobacco cigarettes by removing all competitive advantage that e-cigarettes hold in the marketplace.
