If there were any evidence that electronic cigarettes inhibit, rather than enhance smoking cessation, I too would join Dr. Glantz's camp and oppose electronic cigarettes. But such evidence does not exist. Not a shred of it so far. Not a single study suggests that electronic cigarette use results in lower quit rates than what would occur in the absence of electronic cigarette use among smokers who try these products.

If you need more vapor, get some e-liquid with more vegetable glycerin (VG) in it. The liquids that produce a ton of vapor usually contain a higher VG blend to bring out the vapor and reduce the sweetness. As a rule of thumb, the more VG, the more vapor and less taste. On the other side, the more PG in the e-juice, the more you taste the flavors, but the less vapor production you will have. I like my e-liquid mixed with 70% PG and 30% VG, but this is a personal preference.

Electronic cigarettes are not for everyone, and this study was not designed to examine the proportion of smokers who will be successful in quitting or cutting down substantially. However, it does document that among those who are successful in becoming ex-smokers or dual users with substantially lowered cigarette consumption, they will likely experience an improvement in their respiratory health.
